What’s the difference between a classic food allergy and a sensitivity?
Symptoms can often be the same but the causes and therefor testing is different. Food allergies cause immediate reactions through IgE antibodies. These reactions can lead to anaphylaxis and require permanent elimination from the diet. Food sensitivities create delayed more chronic reactions (can appear within hours or up to 3 days later) through IgG antibodies making them much harder to identify.
Are hair tests as accurate as blood tests?
No. Hair contains no antibodies and lacks scientific validation for food sensitivity testing. Only blood serum contains the IgG antibodies we need to measure for accurate and reproducible results. IgG antibodies when elevated lead to low grade inflammation in the body.
Will I have to avoid all foods with elevated IgG?
Not necessarily. Many people can successfully reintroduce foods after following our guided elimination protocol. The goal is healing not permanent restriction.
